A compassionate society starts with action within society
At the Compassionate Communities Centre of Expertise, we stimulate the development of compassionate communities. Compassionate communities are often place-based and geographically defined areas that recognise situations of serious illness, death, dying, loss and grief as inherent to human societies.
The concept finds its roots in the Compassionate Cities book published by professor Allan Kellehear.
Below we list the compassionate initiatives in Belgium in which our centre of expertise is in some way involved to improve the circumstances and experiences of people facing serious illness, caregiving, dying and loss.
| We are currently working on a Flemish inspiation guide for compassionate communities. An update will soon follow! |
